The draw of a hidden bar has definitely expired in cities like New York or Los Angeles. There’s a saturation of these kinds of establishments, so at this point they come off as more of a trendy stunt than a genuine discovery. Thankfully, the same can’t be said about Moscow. When you find yourself in a dimly lit, brick-walled basement in Moscow, you know that you’ve found something worthwhile. There’s also the fact that Suzuran’s hidden entrance is only accessible with a special card, or by calling the bar first. With names like Inertia, Glory, and Cheapy Chik, we think you’ll be pretty satisfied by the cocktails too.
Delicatessen Bar
We dig a bar that doesn’t have a cocktail menu. What first started as a trend in high end Japanese cocktail bars, has found its way to the Motherland. Instead of simply picking a libation off of a set menu, visitors to this Tverskoy District bar will find that the bartenders here are looking to satiate your cravings—wherever that may lead them. So don’t judge them by their manicured moustaches… these guys mean business.
